When I first met Mr. Rome, he was a mountain man. His beard was in full bloom and an air of Yosemite still clung tightly to his clothes. As he becomes deeper immersed in the San Francisco's creative culture, Matt's pants get tighter and his hair shorter. His bike loses gears and his demand on the film production market builds. He's the kinda guy that can fix anything (he's practical) yet his bookshelf exposes Rome's more philosophical (dare I say sensitive) side. After just wrapping production on THE POWER OF TWO documentary film, Matthew turned to a purely artistic film making endeavor for his Moon Babies appearance.
Setting up a camera in his backyard for 24 hours, this time-lapse addresses the value of everyday images and the uncontrollable passage of minutes, hours and days. To learn more about Matt, see his blog, twitter, and self-portrait video. Come by "Moon Babies: A One-Night Experimentation of Paper, Film & Sound" tomorrow night from 8pm-midnight at Space Gallery (1141 Polk St, SF) for an experimental film screening experience!
